58 Vacancies Open at NIT and DMI On behalf of National Institute of Transport (NIT) and Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites dynamic and suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill Fifty-eight (58) vacant posts as mentioned below;

The Institute was established by the National Institute of Transport Act, No. 24 of 1982 cap 187 Revised Edition 2009 as an autonomous higher learning institution. It is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) with Registration number REG/EOS/009 of 2002.

The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) was established on the 3rd July, 1978 by CabinetResolution as a training unit within the Ministry of Transport and Communication to fulfill theneeds for well-trained Seafarers. On realizing the increasing demands for maritime training,the Government transformed the training unit to Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) by theAct of Parliament No. 22 of 1991 to cater for the greater needs of the shipping Industry in theregion. DMI main campus is located along Sokoine Drive in the commercial city of Dar esSalaam, adjacent to the Port of Dar es Salaam.

General Conditions

1. Eligibility Requirements

  • All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens and not older than 45 years.
  • People with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply and should clearly indicate their status in the recruitment portal for the attention of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat.

2. Required Documents

  • An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) must be attached, containing reliable contact details: postal address with postal code, email address, and phone number.

3. Certified Copies of Certificates to Attach
Applicants must attach certified copies of the following documents:

  • Postgraduate, Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or Certificate awards
  • Academic transcripts for all qualifications above
  • Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates
  • Professional registration and training certificates from relevant regulatory bodies (if applicable)
  • Birth certificate

4. Unacceptable Attachments
The following documents are strictly not accepted:

  • Form IV and Form VI results slips
  • Testimonials and all partial transcripts

5. Additional Application Requirements

  • A recent passport-size photo must be uploaded in the Recruitment Portal.
  • Public servants currently employed are not allowed to apply, as per Circular No. CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November 2010.
  • Retired public servants are also not eligible to apply.

6. Referees and Foreign Certificates

  • Applicants must include three reputable referees with verified contact details.
  • Certificates from foreign examination bodies (Ordinary/Advanced level) must be verified by NECTA.
  • Foreign professional certificates must be verified by TCU (Tanzania Commission for Universities) or NACTE (National Council for Technical Education).

7. Special Needs and Application Letter

  • Applicants with special needs (disabilities) must clearly state their condition.
